Pitch 1x05 'Alfonso Guzman Chavez' Episode Review!

Secrets Revealing, A Major Plot Twist, and One Teammate Leaves, Not to mention this was the Moneyball episode of Pitch.

This week on Pitch it's offically trade deadline season, aka the Moneyball inspired episode. After waiting 2 weeks for the next episode Pitch has to offer, did 'Alfonso Guzman' live up to Beanball? Was Alfonso Guzman Chavez worth the wait?

WARNING: SPOILERS OF PITCH SEASON 1 EPISODE 5 'ALFONSO GUZMAN CHAVEZ' AHEAD! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

The episode begins with a count of 48 hours until the trade deadline and GMs scrambling and the Padres win another game in their latest winning streak. In the game Mike Lawson steals a base assuring another win for their winning streak.

The players in the locker room are ecstatic but then they start thinking about the Trade Deadline. Baker starts becoming nervous about being traded (being honest of course it was predictable that she wasn't getting traded as she is the protagonist of the series so it wasn't that much of a shock) and all the guys assure her she's not getting traded. Ginny is so worried about Blip moving as rumors go around that Blip is getting traded and some of her other teammates. Once again Mike says yet another great pep talk/ piece of advice to the team that all of them will be safe but takes it back after Oscar casually passes by the locker room.

We then are magically transported to the Oscar's new boss (Entourage Alum Kevin Connolly) as Oscar has a game plan for the Trade Deadline. This new boss drops a bomb on Oscar revealing he needs to cut $2 Million of the pay roll!!

To a more happier note, Ginny is at Blip and Evelyn's (Having  some time quality with the twins as Aunt Ginny)  Evelyn's dream house dropped by $50 Grand and it is revealed that Blip has no trade clause and he's a center fielder making him easy trade bait, worrying Ginny about losing her genuine friends bringing me to this week's flashbacks.  We've seen flashbacks about Ginny as a daughter, girlfriend, sister, being signed by an agent and how she got signed to the Padres but we hadn't seen her as a friend. This week's flashbacks was about the one guy ball player who was her best friend, Jordan Collins.
The flashbacks start in North Carolina 2010, in which Jordan Collins joins the Mustangs and Ginny is tasked with showing him the team's workout routine and when Jordan asks Ginny if she's seen Living Color she takes it as if he's asking her out and says he just wants to be friends and the two instantly bond, one of the many highlights in this episode.
Back to present day, Amelia and Mike, let's just say, enjoy each other's company that is until someone messes up Amelia's car and the situation is made worse especially after Lawson says "I hate groupie on groupie crime." making Amelia be offended, personally I don't blame her because it was offensive thing to do. This subplot between these two makes it a little bit hard to focus on the premise of the series as this techincally the whole "I got dumped my date to the prom" feel/stereotype to it distracts from the premise of the series to be honest.

Ginny is at her apartment and is super worried about Blip leaving the team and calls Elliot and finds out that  as long as Alfonso Guzman Chavez stays an oriole, Blip stays as a Padres.

In Flashback universe, Ginny and Jordan are watching living color and Jordan's dad, Ray, is late so Mr. Baker drops him off at his house and we find out Jordan's father is a depressed, intoxicated, single father upset with himself and never able to be the father Jordan needs. Bill, being soft, steps in and tries to be there for Jordan still something's not right about Ray.

Back to present day, Oscar has a real abscessed tooth (Ironically jinxed by Rhonda from last episode.) and it takes time away from the Trade deadline, what comedic relief.

As for Amelia, she gets a car loaned by Lawson without asking and Amelia cannot be more mad at Lawson! She goes to see Lawson and dang she's way more at advanced at playing hard to get than Kelly Kepowski ever was even pulling out a somewhat strong zinger. "Unlike most of the women you date, I'm solvent and old enough to rent my own car."

As for Oscar, he is struggling with the wrong assitant (played by guest star Josh Peck) and is trying to find a 3rd base men.

Whereas we move back to Amelia and she asks Elliot about the pictures which have been quiet since Beanball which hints they might comeback on the show soon! Amelia literally lets the cat outta the bag and accidentally lets it slip to Elliot that she's seeing Mike! Props to you Elliot for being basically the therapist this episode!

One of the Padres is traded and everyone is feeling down in locker room. Tommy literally asks Ginny to spend some quality time with her by  working out with him. I like that Tommy has somewhat turned from the jerk that called Ginny some stuff to now inviting her and treating her like one of the guys.

We move along to another flashback in which Jordan and Ginny are bonding as it's revealed Ginny has gotten a scholarship and I love the chemistry between Jordan and Ginny.

As I was saying Tommy even introduces Ginny to his wife and kid (TALK ABOUT A SHOCKER!)! I at one point thought Tommy was starting to have a crush on Ginny.

Moving on, We are then brought to another Mike and Blip Boy's Night. Mike ignores a potential call from Amelia and Blip grows suspicious. Blip then figures out how Amelia and Mike are together as well. Blip tells Lawson to tell Ginny because sooner or later it well get out and it would better if Ginny heard it from Lawson. Mike may be king of Pep Talks and Advice but Blip right now is at a close second.

On the other end of the spectrum, The girls have a girls night that turns to a disaster after Alfonso Guzman Chavez is a brave and with now Blip in the room everyone worries about leaving. Personally, I thought that Blip was going to blurt out to Ginny about Mike and Amelia.

Ginny continues to panic and Amelia gives her a piece of advice. I think Amelia's piece of advice crossed the line and you've got to remember that Amelia's way out of her element as Ginny's agent. Amelia's a talent agent and for her to tell Ginny to demand Oscar not to trade Blip is preposterous. Ginny actually doing it made me cringe. Oscar lashing out on Ginny technically had reason because she's a ball player that had no right to order Oscar to not trade a ball player because it's his job, not hers. Oscar then thinks about trading a center fielder worrying the audience watching. Ginny feels even more worried as the look on her face says it all.

In flashback universe we are brought a MAJOR BOMB! The mustangs are playing a big game and Jordan and Ginny cannot be more excited. Seriously these two singing Katy Perry might have been my favorite moment from the episode!

Jordan is super pumped because his dad's coming to the big game and Bill doesn't exactly believe buy this. Now at the game, Ray doesn't show up Bill leaves a message for Ray and Ray intoxicated, stumbling somehow thinks he's goint to make it and crashes a car... a car that just so happens to be Bill's, revealing Ray was the drunk driver that killed Bill and WOW what a shocker, Dan Fogelman definitely knows how to play with the audience's heart strings, including mine.

With only 9 minutes and 45 seconds till the deadline, Ginny and Blip wait together in the locker room. Oscar is offically done the deadline and Blip is... staying! Ginny and Blip couldn't be more happier!

The trade deadline may be over but the new president of operations wants Oscar to find a way to get rid of Lawson! The episode didn't end with a happy ending but someone had to leave and it had to be Tommy just as I start warming up to him!!!

Mike and Amelia are getting more serious and I don't like it but they both agree to finally tell Ginny, which they should.

Everything is great even for the twins with Aunt Ginny but the episode ends with Amelia telling Ginny about the secret. At first, Ginny is not caring and after Amelia leaves Ginny is clearly heartbroken and ignores Mike's phone call. Talk about a sad ending and no Bawson moments!

'Alfonso Guzman Chavez' was clearly full of action and a lot of drama but lack of baseball. The episode was worth the wait absolutely and I enjoyed and I gave 'Alfonso Guzman Chavez' a 9.7/10 so it's a 9

for Alfonso Guzman Chavez! Next episode I sense quite tension next episode!

Tumblr User Thinks Joe Buck Confirmed That Ginny Baker Will Make The World Series?

I was of Course Browsing on Tumblr To See What The Pitch Fandom Thinks Of Everything Relevant On The Show And I Happended to Come Across This Post..
http://offleshandspirit.tumblr.com/post/152448504223/its-official-ginny-baker-makes-it-to-the-world

Don't get me wrong I'm all for Ginny making to the World Series. Heck I'm a HUGE Ginny Baker fan! It would be cool if Ginny would make it with her team  to the World series but this post has little proof to support the claim. For 1, Pitch has yet to get that far on the series let alone, the NLCS. We're at Trading Deadline People!

The idea of a woman making it into the World Series sounds amazing. Just because Joe Buck mentions during Game 3 to watch Pitch is probably because he wants viewers to watch the show and MLB is partnering up with Pitch so as of right now there isn't enough evidence to support the Padres winning the NLCS and I hope they do just as of right now I hope and so should you...

Pitch 1x05 'Alfonso Guzman Chavez' Promo Reaction, Predictions, and Official Photos!

If One You Were Getting Traded, You'd Hear It From The GM, Not Twitter..

\

Pitch is on it's first hiatus and I can't bear waiting one more week for this episode considering what happend in 'The Break' and the new promo released for this coming episode!!

In Season 1's 5th episode, Alfonso Guzman Chavez the premise for this episode is:

The Padres are on pins and needles as rumors swirl around the team potentially trading Blip. Meanwhile, Oscar tries to navigate working with Charlie Graham (Kevin Connolly), the interim Padres President of Operations and Mike tries to smooth things over with Amelia in the all-new "Alfonzo Guzman-Chavez" episode of PITCH airing Thursday, Oct. 27

Sounds like quite a nail biter especially with Livan Duarte, the new star catcher from Cuba Oscar signed from last episode! Not just with Duarte but Ginny might also get traded!!

PREDICTIONS

1. Mike and Amelia's relationship will be in some problems and it won't be hush hush anymore!!

2. With this new cuban catcher, I sense some tension between Mike and this catcher and a possible feud/rivalry between the two given last episode what they said about each other. Maybe even a possible fist fight between these two.

3. As for who's leaving I think it is not Ginny but I think Tommy Miller will get traded or even Livan Duarte.

Check out the offical photos for episodes below! 'Alfonso Guzman Chavez' premieres October 27 at 9/8C on FOX check it out!!!

Pitch Season 1 Episde 4 'The Break' Review!

Ginny's World Is Turned Upside Down and The All Star Game Has It's Ups And Downs....

This week on Pitch drama was at an all time high.Last week's episode was so phenomenal I knew that this week's episode had to be great considering Beanball was an amazing episode.

So did 'The Break' live up to Beanball?

WARNING: SPOILERS OF PITCH SEASON 1 EPISODE 4 'THE BREAK' AHEAD! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

This episode was once again about the characters' personal lives. It was about Ginny and her mom's relationship. It was about Mike and how much longer he has for baseball. It was about Blip as a husband and father. The episode begins with Baker Nation campaigning for Ginny to play in the All Star Game by using #PutHerInTheGame to convince her to be given a fair chance.  I feel as if this was a real thing, #PutHerInTheGame would be an actual trending hashtag because who wouldn't want to see a woman in MLB All Star Game?

The episode then goes to Mike's house. Mike's relationship with Amelia is actually becoming a real one. As Mike is with Amelia, Mike's back as we learned from last week's episode got even more worse and his injury is intensifying. Mike then goes back about thinking about how much longer his body has left for baseball and Amelia has booked him to be a sports analyst for the post all star game as its his backup plan for after baseball.
Ginny is upset with Evelyn since her mother, Janet Baker, is coming for town and Evelyn can't be buffer this time round for the two of them. In fact, Evelyn is excited Blip didn't make the All Star team because they are going on a family vacation which is why she is not with Ginny in her hour of need: Her Mother visiting, which brings me to this week's flashbacks.
Last week's flashbacks was all about Ginny's first love with a ball player, this week it was all about a different relationship: Her mother. In present day Ginny is shown to have some resentment towards her mother, which the flashbacks show Janet as a sweet, loving mother figure so why does Ginny have a cold shoulder for her?

In a subplot for this episode, Oscar is having Ronda lie about his whereabouts for him. Turns out, Oscar's going behind the team's back and signing Star Cuban Catcher, Livan Duarte.

In the Home Run derby we figure out that Ginny feels that she's a fraud for being in the national team. After the derby, Ginny is complaining about dinner with her mom and Mike invites himself to be a buffer between the two!! HE INVITED HIMSELF TO COME WITH GINNY TO MEET HER MOM?? LIKE A MEET THE PARENTS THING?? Well, not quite. Ginny pulls a shocker on Mike by saying he invited his secret hush hush girlfriend, Amelia, which catches him off-guard!

The dinner turns out to be a huge disaster! Janet drops a huge bomb on Ginny by telling her that she has a new boyfriend who Ginny may or may not know.

The dinner becomes even more awkward with Mike and Amelia being hush hush with their secret and Mike oblivious to the whole situation of Kevin not being able to come to the All Star Game and selflessly giving Kevin his ticket, angering everyone except Janet and Kevin
Back in flashback universe, we see how hard it was for Ginny as a kid to be a normal kid and ball player. As a dance is approaching Ginny's dad gives her a choice to either go be normal and choose the dance instead of baseball or miss out on the dance and go train for baseball, what a situation let down her father or mother.
Being in those situations must have been so hard. Thinking about that, this makes me realize how some of us take advantage of events like that (Dances, Parties, etc) and even normal things like friends or relationships because kids like Ginny, determined athletes with a heart, had to give it up and work hard and miss on these fun events.

Back to the dinner, The dinner becomes even more awkward. Kevin tries to play stepfather and mentions Ginny's real father. With Kevin doing this, chaos ensues at the dinner table which ends with Amelia and Mike paying!

In the subplot, Blip gets a phone call that changes everything. At a last minute, Blip is choosen to the All Star team and Evelyn is slightly disappointed. Evelyn is so angry at Blip for choosing baseball over their family vacation. Meagan's acting is so surreal she did a good job conveying her emotions on screen.
After this emotional scene, we are brought to the All Star Game. Might I just say that Blip, Mike, and Ginny all suited up on the way to the field was just perfect?
Might have been one my favorite moments from the episode!
The episode then goes to announce all the All Stars and we then find out Ginny's mother and her boyfriend didn't make it to the game or use Mike's seats.
Ginny is facing off real Ball Player El Salvador Perez, justifying she's an all star. El Salvador Perez scores a run and Ginny cannot be anymore dissapointed at herself.
Not only is Ginny disapointed at herself but her mother didn't show and that techinically was why she didn't do such a great job: Pressure.
Back to flashbacks, we finally found out why Ginny pushed her mother away and how she became a Daddy's Girl. As her mother said earlier in the episode, if Ginny wanted an out from baseball all she had to do was say the word. Ginny comes home earlier from school to tell her mom she wanted out and catches her canoodling with another man who just happens to be Kevin. With this she pushed her mother away and kept pursuing baseball, who knows what would have happend if she didn't know? Maybe she wouldn't be in the MLB?
We are then brought back to Amsterdam and Oscar is talking to Livan Duarte and he signs him with the Padres but already doesn't want to come second to Mike Lawson.
Speaking of Lawson, we are brought to his sports analyst broadcast and if anyone was president of the Ginny Baker fan club I think he is king! Once again another amazing Pep Talk/Defense for Ginny!

See what I mean? Another amazing display of how much he admires Baker! Which brings me to his finding out of Livan possibly taking his job. Man, I sense a rivalry in the next episode.
Ginny and her mother then share a sentimental scene. I have to say what a performance Kylie Bunbury! It was very heartfelt and especially I give kudos to Ginny for forgiving her mom, definitely quite a moment and tear jerker!
Blip then makes it back to Florida and tells Evelyn she's his biggest moment over any baseball game. These two are just Relationship Goals!
Mike bored calls someone and I was in my head like oh great here we go with Amelia but of course a plot twist ensued and Mike called Ginny! Their conversation couldn't have been anymore adorable!

These two are just so adorable! Perfect way to end the episode! Anybody see the irony? In the Interim, Mike said he misses having someone to talk to at night and he called Ginny, not Amelia so that must mean something.

The Break lives up to Beanball but frankly I enjoyed more Beanball but they were both on the same level. The Break gets a 9.7/10!
