Pitch Season 1 Episode 3 'Beanball' Review!

If You Thought The Fist Fights And Drama Were Stopping You Are Oh So Wrong...

This week on Pitch the claws came out! The Interim was a bit too dramatic and had less baseball compared to the 'Pilot' but in  the latest episode,'Beanball', was full of less drama, action, and more  baseball.
WARNING: SPOILERS OF PITCH SEASON 1 EPISODE 3 'BEANBALL' AHEAD! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
'Beanball' starts at a game revealing Ginny is in the middle of a beanball war and that star pitcher, The Mountain, from the Cardinals is pitching at Ginny. The episode then goes to their opening and resumes seven hours earlier before the game. If you missed the ending to the Interim then you missed that Mike and Amelia were hanging at the bar and now I think Amelia and Mike had too many drinks because they did something I think they both enjoyed.

In the locker room, Blip and Mike give Ginny a special delivery from Drake making all the ball players think that she hookups with rappers, not ball players. Only for Baker to roast all of the guys by saying she would never go out with any of the Padres whether they were doctors, ball players, or rappers, which brings me to discuss this week's subplot.

In this week's flashbacks,(as this is the show's dynamic), we find out about the one ball player Ginny broke her code for: Trevor. The story flashbacks to 2014, Texas. Ginny is hanging out at a bar with Blip and Evelyn a ball player named Trevor buys her a beer and shows possible interest in Baker, same could be said for Baker. At first, Ginny isn't interested in seeing another ball player because 2 reasons 1. She thinks other guys will see her as weak and start hitting on her, which defies her as not one of the guys. 2. No matter what she does in baseball, a story of whomever she's dating would be bigger despite what amazing feats she does in the sport.
Trevor insists Ginny to go with him for a drink which she agrees to, which in reality is a date. Ginny is still unsure whether Trevor's worth breaking her personal code but then Trevor tells Ginny he's quitting baseball in an estimate of a month after playoffs, so he can go pursue a degree in college. Trevor's words are enough to convince Ginny that he's technically not a ball player. After Trevor pays for their date, Ginny is convinced he's not a ball player and starts a relationship with Trevor in secret, making him promise not to tell anyone, especially players.

More later in the episode we find out that Trevor wants their relationship to be public and for her to come to his games. At first, she doesn't want that but later does. She even comes to one of his games.
Back to present day, Al has one last MLB game and gets thrown out after trading line up cards and develops a surprisingly clever plan to keep his job. I, myself, was suprised and that may be because of what he said in the episode later on, "I tend to susprise people who underestimate me."
Tommy Miller is officially of the DL on the same day he is facing the pitcher, Theo Falcone, that put him there. Not only did Theo injure Miller in a previous game but, in the present game, also almost injured Blip!
Because of this, Ginny wants revenge on Falcone by bean balling him Lawson warns her not to do it because he claims "there are other ways" for revenge. If it were another male pitcher Lawson would have given them the right but not Ginny as he says towards the end of the episode.
Despite Lawson's warnings, Baker beanballs Falcone, daring a pitcher to hit her back. If you don't know what a beanball is, in baseball when a pitcher hits a player on purpose you hit them back.

With a double switch, Falcone won't get to beanball Ginny but pitcher the Mountain would. As Ginny takes to bat, Mountain almost hits Ginny in the head but after that takes it easy on Ginny making her believe Mountain's afraid of hurting her. Then Pitch gives us another big shocker it's not the mountain that's afraid of hurting Ginny but the catcher who happens to be TREVOR!!

As Ginny gets back in the batter's box, we have another flashback from the relationship. In which, Trevor tells Ginny he was being scouted by the Cardinals and now has a shot for the Majors, revealing he lied to Ginny just so they could date and she went to one of his last games in Texas. Ginny got upset she broke up with Trevor. What a sweet ending to quite the relationship!
Once Ginny finds out Trevor's catcher she is shocked! The Mountain and Trevor refuse to beanball Ginny. BAD MISTAKE BOYS! Ginny automatically gets so upset she walks up to the mound, only to get stopped by Trevor and have a confrontation using his words: Why are you so emotional? Nut up!, against him. The confrontation gets so intensified that Tommy Miller comes to Ginny's defense, showing possible respect, ultimately creating the biggest fist fight on the show so far! Check the clip of the fight right here!

To be honest, the fist fight was very entertaining to watch and created some authenticity if this was a real ballgame. I feel if they just beanballed Ginny this fight would have never happend because she wanted to be treated equally!
The whole Frank and Maxine subplot for me, I wasn't really interested in. To be honest, It bored me as I was more interested in the Trevor and Ginny subplot and the whole Beanball drama.
Pitch couldn't forget having an emotional scene and it had one alright. Oscar in the pilot said he was getting seperated from his wife and children but I assumed he already told his children but he had to face the music and tell Daniella, his eldest daughter.
I have to admit Daniella meeting Ginny for the first time was so sweet. The scene when Daniella knew what her father was going to say about the divorce made me so sad and it was a beautifully executed scene and if you claim you didn't cry, your lying cause I lost it.

Trevor had some bad news to spare. Ginny is told by Trevor his account got hacked. It doesn't sound so bad right? Well..Trevor's iCloud and the hackers found selfies taken from the road. Could these pictures be of the bad variety? I predict in the next episode these pictures will be released to the public, the media will publicize this story probaly as a controversy, and will somewhat play a role in next week's episode.
As for the Mike and Ginny scene, they have such a chemistry! When Ginny asks Lawson if he plays golf, could this indicate she has an interest in him? I absolutely love these two together and completely ship these two!

I predict that next week Ginny's finding out about Amelia and Mike!
I absolutely think that Tommy has accepted Ginny as one of the guys.Tommy in the pilot started a fist fight in the locker room because of Baker and I like that he's starting to respect to Ginny. From the fist bump to inviting Baker to a drink with the guys, I think all the guys appreciate having Ginny on the team and have come to their senses and are accepting her as one of the guys.

Overall, 'Beanball' is the best episode, along with the Pilot, so far of the series. It was filled with a lot baseball, an equal but not much amount of drama, and action that kept me and many viewers engaged. Let's just say the next episode has quite the episode to live up to...
BEANBALL gets a 9.7/10
