Pitch Season 1 Episode 2 'The Interim' Review!

Last Week Was All About Ginny and Pilot Twists, This Week Was More Different...

Pitch had a solid pilot premiere and after the pilot, I, like many others, wanted to see more as the pilot had me engaged. 'The Interim' the second episode of the highly anticipated series aired last night after waiting a week seemed like an eternity.

The Interim addressed quite a few issues about feminism all this while showing other sides to the characters including their personal lives.

WARNING: SPOILERS OF PITCH SEASON 1 EPISODE 2 'THE INTERIM' AHEAD! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

Ginny is overwhelmed being the only woman on the team and all the attention being on her. The episode picks up from where the previous episode ended. Just after Ginny's historic first win in Major Leagues, the media already is criticizing Ginny's team mates for having no support for Baker even going as far as making a League of Their Own reference("Come on boys, haven't you seen the movie? There's no crying in baseball.")Ginny tries everything to fit in/ feel a part of the team from going to get drinks with the team, which only a few of the guys come to celebrate the victory, and feels even more like an outsider when on a bus no one is letting her to sit next to them (just like elementary school or Forest Gump) except Mike Lawson.                Making me question more: is there a chemistry between Baker and Lawson? Kylie Bunbury and Mark Paul Gosslear's chemistry on screen is so surreal and makes me think that maybe their characters like each other romantically.

The situation gets worse for Ginny as all the media can talk about is her and feels even more singled out. That is until a clip from an interview from 2 years ago resurfaces. The Padres manager, Al, two years ago in an interview when asked about Baker Al completely says not the best thing saying: "I mean have you seen her. Easy on the eyes. I'm sure a lot of guys would love to have her in the locker room."

I feel that what Al said was sexist and wrong cause we don't hear Al calling his other players easy on the eyes but he thinks it was okay to say this about Ginny, the most important sports figure since Jackie Robinson? Sure it was a few years ago but what he said was wrong. In the locker room, Al gives Ginny a genuine apology that I knew he actually meant unlike his statement in front of the press. Al releases a public apology in front of press which backfires on Al, making him lose his job.

Ginny tries defending Al by releasing a statement supporting him but Amelia won't allow it (which Ginny should do, since she's the boss!), saying it would ruin her brand. Through flashbacks, we find out how Amelia became Ginny's agent.

Speaking in shocks and drama, Amelia's story begins right after her and her husband, Eric, try to have a child to fix their relationship problems and Amelia ends up leaving him. Right after that, she sees Ginny on a TV during a meeting in her job and quits her job (so does Elliot without no once caring.)to go sign with Ginny. Amelia then goes to Texas to try and sign with Ginny as her agent and client. But first, Amelia had to get rid of Ginny's main agent, Ginny's brother Will.

Ginny's brother, Will, we saw a bit of in the pilot and him being slapped by his father made me question 2 things: What's the relationship of Ginny and Will? Why was Will not in the game? Considering the plot twist from last week, I was not getting attached to Will but I love the relationship between the two siblings. So letting Ginny sign with Amelia, Will knew he wouldn't get Ginny as far as Amelia could as she proved herself in Texas by calling every major news outlets and filling the stadium with I'M NEXT signs everywhere leaving Will speechless and knowing Amelia was the right choice.

The drama didn't stop there. In a subplot, Mike starts to accept the end of his baseball career and marriage to reporter Rachel Patrick (who is rattling out on Ginny to be on her show . Mike took a swing telling his wife how he was still in love with her and a possible idea of quitting baseball to get back together but of course, it's a Swing and Miss, as Rachel then reveals she is engaged! Mike in the locker room and gives another amazing pep talk to the boys (as another fist fight ensued in the locker room, also giving one of the best lines in the episode,"We're gonna shock the world and yeah we're going to do it with a pretty girl in the dugout!"),while at the same time Ginny is on the Jimmy Kimmel show addressing a case about a female track star that got assaulted by another male track star because she supposedly went to the wrong locker room, publicly releasing a statement supporting Al, and talking about what it's like to be the only female in the Major Leagues. This scene was amazingly potrayed by both Bunbury and Gosslear. Not only was the acting amazing, it also potrayed a powerful message.

The only take away from the episode was the subplot of Blip and Evelyn, I didn't exactly enjoy their subplot but it had comic relief.

Overall The Interim lives up to the pilot, giving us an insight into the characters personal lives and potrayed a strong message, as well. Making waiting for next Thursday's episode, unbearable...

The INTERIM gets a 8.5/10
